How Neuro-Verse Began

Hi, I'm Bobbie. A mum, not a psychologist, neurologist or medical professional.

Neuro-Verse started with my own daughter, Lux.

After her ADHD diagnosis, I wanted to help her understand what was happening inside her wonderfully busy brain. I also needed a way for her to explain it to the people around her- her teachers, classmates and friends. without expecting a child to somehow find all the right words herself.

So I made her a book about her Neuro- Verse.

It explained ADHD in language she could understand, but it was also about her.  Her personality, her strengths, the things she found tricky and all the little things that made her Lux.

She took it to school, and it became a tool for helping other people understand her too. Her teachers have used her book with her class to help explain ADHD and why some brains might learn, feel or behave a little differently.

We then had other friends diagnosed and Lux wanted them to have their own special books to help them understand.   From their it grew.

I'm not creating these books as a clinician. They aren't intended to diagnose, treat or replace professional advice. I'm creating them as a mum who needed a better way to start conversations with her own child, and to give her child a way to advocate for herself and start those conversations with others.  And I want others to have this also.

Neuro-Verse is about making those conversations a little easier.

Every book is personalised because kids want to know about their own brains and no two kids, and no two ADHD brains, are exactly alike. We talk about the tricky bits honestly, celebrate the brilliant bits just as loudly, and hopefully help kids understand that having a brain that works differently is simply one part of what makes them them.

Their brain. Their universe. Their Neuro-Verse.
